GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
THE DRESSMAKERS ACADEMY
(Effective for bookings made on or after 1 January 2026)

Article 1 – Scope
1. These General Terms and Conditions apply to all offers, bookings and agreements between The Dressmakers Academy and participants relating to Couture Sewing Retreats, taking place in the Netherlands and abroad.
2. By registering for a retreat, the participant agrees to these General Terms and Conditions.

Article 2 – Registration and admission
1. Registration takes place via the website or by written confirmation and becomes binding upon confirmation by The Dressmakers Academy.
2. The Dressmakers Academy reserves the right to assess whether a participant has the required level and experience to take part.
3. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Article 3 – Execution of the retreat
1. The Dressmakers Academy will carry out the retreat to the best of its ability but cannot guarantee specific results.
2. The Dressmakers Academy reserves the right to make reasonable changes to the programme, location or schedule if circumstances require.
3. Travel, accommodation, meals and materials are not included unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Article 4 – Payment
1. Payment must be made according to the payment schedule stated in the booking confirmation.
2. Payment in instalments does not release the participant from the total payment obligation.
3. If payment deadlines are not met, The Dressmakers Academy reserves the right to suspend or cancel participation.

Article 5 – Cooling-off period
1. Within 14 days of booking/payment, the participant may cancel without giving reasons, provided the retreat has not yet started.
2. After this period, a non-refundable administration fee of €25 applies.

Article 6 – Cancellation by the participant
After the cooling-off period, the following cancellation terms apply:
- More than 12 weeks before the start date
→ 80% of the retreat fee will be refunded, minus €25 administration costs.
- Between 12 and 6 weeks before the start date
→ 40% of the retreat fee will be refunded, minus €25 administration costs.
- Less than 6 weeks before the start date
→ No refund can be offered.
Any applicable refunds may be reduced by transaction or transfer fees.

Article 7 – Transfer of booking
Participants may transfer their booked place to another person at no additional cost, subject to prior written approval by The Dressmakers Academy.

Article 8 – Cancellation or changes by The Dressmakers Academy
1. The Dressmakers Academy may cancel or reschedule a retreat due to illness, organisational reasons or unforeseen circumstances.
2. In such cases, participants will be offered either participation on a later date or a refund of payments made, minus costs already incurred.
3. No additional compensation can be claimed.

Article 9 – Exceptional circumstances (force majeure)
1. In the event of extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of either party — including but not limited to war, terrorism, pandemics, government-imposed travel restrictions, flight bans or serious disruption of international travel — The Dressmakers Academy reserves the right to offer an alternative solution instead of a monetary refund.
2. Such alternatives may include rescheduling to a later retreat date or issuing a credit for future participation.
3. Decisions will be made with care, fairness and transparent communication, taking into account the stage of preparation and costs already incurred.

Article 10 – Intellectual property
All materials, methods and content provided during the retreat are for personal use only and remain the intellectual property of The Dressmakers Academy.

Article 11 – Liability
Participation in a retreat is at the participant’s own risk.
The Dressmakers Academy accepts no liability except where mandatory by law.

Article 12 – Governing law
1. These terms are governed exclusively by Dutch law.
2. Any disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands.

Article 13 – Final provisions
1. If any provision of these terms is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in force.
2. The Dressmakers Academy reserves the right to amend these terms.
